Proprietary Product Development
Duramed's proprietary
product-development activities are focused on expanding the portfolio of women's
healthcare products, including oral contraceptives and treatments for menopause/perimenopause
and endometriosis. An important part of this strategy is to develop a broad line of products
to meet unmet medical needs of women.
Duramed is also pursuing product development
in urology, specifically to treat women's healthcare issues using its transvaginal ring technology.
In addition, Duramed is developing an oral vaccine product to prevent Adenovirus (types 4 and 7)
infections. Duramed continues to identify other proprietary product candidates that further expand
product offerings in these areas, while evaluating additional therapeutic categories to add to its
portfolio.
In addition to traditional proprietary pharmaceutical
products, Duramed manages the clinical development and regulatory approval process and international
commercialization of Barr's emerging portfolio of generic biologics products.
