Generic Product Pipeline
Research
and Development
Barr is committed to maintaining a full pipeline of generic
products and has continued to increase its investment in generic
research and development in support of this commitment. The
Company has a significant number of full-time employees working
in the areas of research and development, manufacturing, production
and quality, who help support our generic drug activities.
The Company
has traditionally developed generic pharmaceuticals in tablet
and capsule forms. During the past year, Barr has devoted significant
research and development resources to developing new dosage
forms for generic products. The Company is actively developing
these generic products, both on its own and through agreements
with third parties, using delivery technologies such as patches,
rings, creams, injectables, nasal sprays, and sterile ophthalmics.
For strategic reasons, the Company does not disclose generic
products under active development other than those that are
the subject of patent challenges. These products are made public
following initiation of litigation, or following FDA approval.
